rang de basanti
hmm.. let me see.. i heard from my brother that the movie was ok ok.. so i went to the theatre with that in mind, not expecting much. boy! what a show, every character suited the role so well, and they did every justice they can to the role. the direction is great. hilarious first half with some wonderful impromptu jokes. i wish i had some good time in college like that. anyway, i had a great time watching this movie.
its an interesting concept. they took an incident from indian history, found some people in the current generation, made them work to shoot that incident. and alas, pretty much a similar situation happens in the current time. and these guys do the same thing that was done in history. i really salute the person whoever got the concept.
the screenplay could have been better. especially the second part could have been made little more gripping.
the background music was great and i had lots of fun watching the movie as such. the heroine was as cute as her mother. songs were also great making me sing along and dance along. i loved "lalkaar".listening to it gives me goose-pimples.
now for my musings:
i guess the trend in india is changing. lots of movies are being made to incite people to join public services and help the nation. its great if this can actually percolate into people's mind. i am not saying people should join services to render their services to the nation. any possible way to make the country better is a way that can serve the nation. little things that dont take much time will make a big impact. for eg., i always see people littering on roads. instead, you can save the litter until you find a garbage bin and throw in it. i heard few people say, who will collect it from garbage bins? they dont clear the garbage bins. well, thats not the point. point is did you do the correct thing or not? for a moment, lets assume no one clears it. what would happen? the litter would be around the bin. if at some time, the people clearing it come, it would all around it. it would still be better off than the litter lying on the road. who knows, by seeing us do the correct thing, even those people who remove the trash from garbage bins might start acting promptly. if not, we should ask them to do so. its our duty.
i also see most of the educated people sitting idle at home. i am sure they are not that busy that they cant help the nation. a small committment from them to help atleast one person, or may educate a person would also have a big impact. i strongly believe that each person should take initiatives to make their neighbourhood cleaner and nicer than what it is now.
its also our duty to create new oppurtunities for ourselves and in turn that would impact nations economy.
there are so many things to say, but i would be wandering off without any particular connection with the movie.
all said, i would say, rang de basanti is a must see movie atleast for the justice that actors did for their characters and the music.
full thumbs up to rang de basanti...
hai liye hathyaar dushman taak mein baita udhar
aur hum taiyyaar hain seena liye apna idhar
khoon se khelenge holi gar vatan muskhil mein
hai sarfaroshi ki tamanna ab hamaare dil mein hai
